The Journey

The Journey Returns to Daniels Spectrum November 16th and 19th, 2016

The Journey is a spirited musical based on the story of three young people living in the Regent Park neighbourhood. Not only is the show inspired by the real-life stories of Regent Park residents, it also features local spoken word artists and musicians, alongside world-renowned Canadian talent. Daniels Spectrum in Regent Park will host two shows for the public on Wednesday, November 16th and Saturday, November 19th. Tickets are available at Don’t delay; seats are more than 80% sold. Funds raised by The Journey go towards capital improvements, operations and youth arts programming at Daniels Spectrum. Find out more about The Journey at

Using a powerful combination of spoken word, dramatic scenes, music and dance, The Journey highlights moments in Regent Park’s nearly 70-year history through the eyes of local residents. The show features award-winning Regent Park spoken word artists Trevlyn Kay and Britta B, R&B singer-songwriter Steve Harmony, Regent Park School of Music graduate Stacy Darko and Dixon Hall Music School alumnus Thompson Egbo-Egbo. Joining these local talents on-stage is the electrifying, award-winning, world-class performer Jackie Richardson (‘The Nina Project,’ ‘Adventures of a Black Girl in Search of God’), in addition to vocalist, actor and musician Jeremiah Sparks (Mufasa in ‘The Lion King,’ and star of world renowned show ‘Drum’) and songstress/actress Alana Bridgewater (Dragon in the stage production of ‘Shrek’ and Motormouth in the Broadway hit ‘Hairspray’ at the Charlottetown Festival).

The Journey provides Daniels Spectrum with opportunities to engage a broader and more diverse range of attendees, supporters and members of the community. In total, sixty-five artists are involved in this ambitious musical production, with more than half from the Regent Park community, as well as over 1350 Regent park community members, city-builders, artists, arts professionals, arts/non-profit organizations and members of the general public.

The Journey will tug at your heartstrings and leave you wanting more. We hope to see you at one of our public shows at Daniels Spectrum in Regent Park on Wednesday, November 16th & Saturday, November 19th.
